Kaohsiung Medical University (originally known as Kaohsiung Medical College) was formally established in 1954. Apart from being the first private medical university in the university has also become an important cradle for highly-skilled physicians and medical-related specialists. Kaohsiung Medical University was a center of both medical care and the study of local tropical medicine in the early days. The Trier University (German: Universität Trier), in the German city of Trier, was founded in 1473. Closed in 1798 by order of the then French administration in Trier, the university was re-established in 1970 after a hiatus of some 172 years. Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski is the first Bulgarian high academic school establishment. Its history is an embodiment and a continuation of the century long cultural and educational tradition of the Bulgarian nation. Since its establishment it has always played a very important role as the most prestigious educational institute. It is the only Bulgarian university in the QS World University Rankings. The university has 16 faculties and three departments, where over 21,000 students receive their education. It is the most successful Bulgarian participant in EC R&D initiatives, FP7 and H2020 attracting more than 60M Euro funding. It is well integrated in a number of European research networks and project initiatives.

The Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Department of Public and Community Health is located at Athens Campus of the University of West Attica (Alexandras 196, Athens, Greece). It serves the scientific field of Epidemiology, Prevention of Chronic and Infectious Diseases, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation of comprehensive Health Prevention and Promotion programs, as well and health care services. The goal of the Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology is the development of new research and educational methodologies and applications in the field of Public and Community health. The Laboratory is currently part of several research and development projects funded by different authorities (European and national). The Laboratory is also actively involved in the education, training and continuing education of other professionals and the general public in issues of prevention and health promotion.

The Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences of Maastricht University stands for cutting edge research and education, rapidly incorporating the latest developments and methods into its programs. The Department of Health Promotion, which is embedded in this faculty, is nationally and internationally known for its expertise in the planned development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based healthy lifestyle interventions. Intervention are considered context-specific, indicating that they interact within complex dynamic systems requiring a multidisciplinary and multilevel approach. The focus of the field of health promotion is expanding and includes health-related topics from the UN sustainable Development Goals (such as nutrition), but also reducing socio economic health inequalities and promoting health literacy in specific settings such as schools, communities and workplaces.

The WHO Collaborating Centre for Health Literacy (WHO CC HL) was established in December 2023 at the TUM School of Medicine and Health (TUM SMH), Department of Health and Sport Sciences.
